Throughout Alison’s 20+ year career, her studies and career have taken her around the world, with work including roles in government, the disability sector, and the arts. A theme of Alison’s career has been providing opportunities for people to access and learn about a wide range of technologies, along with their risks and opportunities. Alison is an experienced producer having worked on numerous events in South Australia, including Hybrid World Adelaide, Maker Faire Adelaide, and Adelaide Film Festival.

In 2019, Alison was a member of the first cohort of students at the Australian National University’s 3A Institute, now the School of Cybernetics, Master of Applied Cybernetics. The world’s first graduate program focusing on the challenges of ensuring Ai-enabled cyber-physical systems are safe, sustainable, and responsible, led by Distinguished Professor Genevieve Bell. After graduating Alison joined the School of Cybernetics’ Engagement and Impact Team.

Alison returned to South Australia to follow her passion for science communication and community engagement as the Inspiring South Australia Program Manager, which work to connect science and community through events, project and programs which the science in our everyday lives, and in our future, more visible.
