Kate is an experienced Art and Design teacher Innovation and Indigenous Education coordinator for St Michael’s College – Primary.  Kate has a passion for innovative teaching practices and dedication to addressing gender biases in STEAM subjects.

Kate is an accomplished Art and Design teacher at St Michael’s College, as well as the Innovation Coordinator for 2023. With a passion for innovative teaching practices and a dedication to addressing gender biases in STEAM subjects, Kate has been recognized for her outstanding work as a Digital Technologies teacher, winning the award in 2018 and again in 2022. She completed her Master of Education at Flinders University in 2011 and has since become an expert in 3D Design Thinking challenges and immersive technologies.

Kate has presented at EdTechSA conferences and ACCE conferences since 2007 on ICT’s in education. In addition to her teaching and coordination roles, Kate runs a “Techgirls” club and a STEAM club at the school, where students engage in collaborative making tasks using a range of cutting-edge technologies, including 3D design and printing, CoSpaces AR and VR, and Makers Empire. Kate is committed to fostering a love of learning in all of her students, and to equipping them with the skills they need to thrive in the rapidly changing landscape of technology and design
